Gloucestershire County Cricket Club match winning partnership with measurable.energy
Gloucestershire County Cricket Club has teamed up with measurable.energy to reduce energy consumption, minimise their carbon footprint, and move closer to their goal of becoming the UK's greenest cricket venue.
As the first UK cricket club to join the Race 2 Zero initiative, Gloucestershire County Cricket Club are dedicated to sustainability and proactively work to reduce their carbon emissions.
Gloucestershire County Cricket Club is the only First-Class cricket club in the UK to participate in the UN Sports for Climate Action initiative and hosts "Time to Declare" lectures to raise awareness about climate change. The club also promotes eco-friendly transport, having the most EV charging points among county clubs, and utilises 31 solar panels on the pavilion roof for renewable energy.
To enhance energy efficiency further, Gloucestershire County Cricket Club’s energy management partner Amber, introduced measurable.energy to tackle the significant energy consuming area of plug power.
measurable.energy’s technology automatically detects and eliminates wasted plug power —energy used by devices like bottle fridges, heaters, TVs, AV equipment, coffee machines, and water heaters that are often left on or in standby mode overnight. This kind of energy use can make up to 40% of total electricity consumption in commercial buildings.
By using measurable.energy, Gloucestershire County Cricket Club has significantly reduced unnecessary energy use:
Here's how:
Austen Cornell, Operations Director at Gloucestershire County Cricket Club said:
“Our work with measurable.energy is a key part of our sustainability strategy. The immediate impact we've seen just by plugging devices into the sockets shows how small changes can make a big difference. Being able to further reduce our carbon emissions by 21% emphasises our commitment to lead by example and become the UK’s greenest cricket venue.”
This innovative approach sets a great example for other sports venues. So, when you catch a game at Seat Unique Stadium, you know you’ll be supporting a team that’s batting for the environment.
